Using the Jazzles Alphabet Activity Sheets.
Some Practical Suggestions
When appropriate, teach some
sight words before starting the activity e.g. "like"
and "love" for the "L" worksheet.
Demonstrate and remind children to correctly form letters when they trace
them.
Play the relevant Jazzles CD letter song while
children are undertaking the activity sheet.
Introduce some 'tactile' variety, for example, try using paints or collage
material to add texture.
When children are finished each activity page:-
a) Encourage children to "read" their
finished activity page.
b) Suggest children draw other focus
letter pictures on the back of each completed page.
c) Use Play Dough or Plasticine to form the focus letter or make
3-D models related to the worksheets e.g. for "e ",
make eggs or for "f " make four fat fish.
d) Write the focus letter or focus initial words using:-
i) Finger or stick in wet sand.
ii) Paint with brush on paper.
iii)Crayons on paper.
iv) Finger paint on paper.
v) Chalk on chalkboard.
vi) Build focus letter words using Lego letters, etc
.
Some alphabet activities pages require children to
draw their own pictures to match text. Children
should be encouraged to creatively add to each
'completed' sheet before finishing. For example, draw some zoo
animals in the background of the 'Z' activity sheet. Or, on the 'O'
sheet, paint the water around the octopus. For the 'D' worksheet,
suggest using glue and soil to collage the garden areas.
